Clinical Review and Evaluation of Anorexia Nervosa in Gynecological Aspects(¥±)

Abstract
Anorexia nervosa is a disorder characterized by severe self-imposed weight loss leading to malnutrition and a psychologic disturbance that manifests itself in a distorted perception of body image or distorted attitude toward eating, food, and weight. The hallmarks of anorexia nervosa include amenorrhea, severe constipation, hypotension, hypothermia, bradycardia, leukopenia, azotemia, hypercarotenemia, and endocrinologic changes. Amenorrhea is described in virtually all female patients.
We are reporting 3 cases, which somewhat typically identify diagnostic criteria by Feighner et al. The present review will attempt to explore current concepts of hypothalamic physiology and to delineate reproductive consequences associated with anorexia nervosa.
